Stinky the Lonely Dolphin

Wah, you ever suddenly think back to those days — come home from school or work, throw bag one side, straightaway login to game with your kakis? One call, “Eh, tonight Dota or not?” and the whole squad magically appear online. Like clockwork.
Last time ah, no need to plan so much. Just whack. CS, DotA, Halo, even MapleStory also can. Sometimes not even serious play — just hang out, talk nonsense, flame each other for fun, then GG go sleep. The game was just background noise to all the rubbish we talk.
But now hor… different already.
People working late, got meetings, got kids, got wife tap shoulder say “Eh, tomorrow got wedding dinner, don’t play so late hor.” Slowly one by one disappear. Some even ghost liao. Not on purpose lah, just life take over. And you can’t blame anyone. That’s how growing up is, right?
But I tell you ah, sometimes when I sit alone scrolling through my Steam list, see all the old games we used to play, I really feel a bit sian. Like wah, last time we used to laugh until cry, now even text also rare.
Sometimes I miss not just the game, but the feeling. The late night laughter, the trash talk, the stupid moments like friendly fire or jumping off the cliff “for science.” That kind of carefree joy — hard to come by nowadays.
Now even if we got one rare night all free, we spend half the time updating the game or fixing mic issues. Then game start, suddenly got baby crying in background. Not same already lah — still fun, but different vibe.
But I still keep the games installed, you know. Hope one day, just one random night, someone will drop a “Eh, game?” in the group chat. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll all show up like the old days.
